Rose Island - September 2024

Andrews Movement had the privilege to work in residence at Rose Island in Newport, RI for one week in September alongside 8 other inspiring artists. We collaborated with four dancers and created site specific movement on film throughout the island.

Choreography & Film Outdoors

Creating outdoors in such an inspiring environment was an excellent change of atmosphere. Because of the weather and terrain, we were able to create more authentic pedestrian movement that might not have come to fruition hadn't we created on Rose Island.

On the last day of the residency the artist cohort gathered together to show each other what we've been working on throughout the week. It was clear how passionate and wildly talented everyone was through their work.

Immersed in Nautical Nature

Rose Island is a magical place full of bright flowers, beach adventures, rich history, stunning views, lots of birds, and of course the lighthouse. Having a week immersed in this serene environment cleared our minds and allowed for new creativity.
